The Morning Star, also spelled Morningstar, is a mace weapon which appears in both the Final Fantasy series and the Mana series. It is essentially a spiked ball attached to a chain that can be swung around to hit targets within its range. The Morning Star made its first appearance in Final Fantasy III, and in the Mana series it first appeared in Final Fantasy Adventure.
History
Final Fantasy Adventure
In Final Fantasy Adventure and its remake, Adventures of Mana, the Morning Star is obtained by defeating Cyclops on Crooked Boulder. It effectively combines the use of the Sickle and a Mattock. Like the Sickle, the Morning Star can be swung around to hit enemies within range. Like Mattocks, the Morning Star can break open fragile walls within dungeons, as well as certain rocks and jars, and does not break after a single use unlike Mattocks.
